4 Months old and teething again!

Vie, the vampiress. Just when we were making progress on the chewing and biting thing, now its back! Poor puppy is losing her milk teeth and just under the inflamed gums are the adult teeth and some new molars too.

Grizzle around eyes and ears

Big girl collar now -- note the grizzle on the legs.

Puppy coat is coming out with every combing now.
Replacing it from underneath is a shinier, silkier grizzled coat. About 1 inch of it already!
Vie now lies quietly on the bench to be combed and to have her nails clipped.
She gets a lot of treats there so she looks forward to it.

Week 12 Sprouting like weeds!

Killer Vie!
Attacking  those Crocs, socks and boots.

Sprouting like a weed, legs now long, muzzle elongated.

Learning "sit", "down", "here", "outside", "relax" (for grooming and exams), "crate",
"collar" (approach to have a leash put on).

When she is not outside playing, or taking a nap in her crate ("Solo" time),
she is tied to my waist in the kitchen or at my desk, in the garden or whatever.
Why?
(1) This is part of our bonding time to me and
(2) when she signals that she needs to go out by tugging on the line I can put her out in a heartbeat,
(3) she is learning "with me".

Week 9 In their new homes

Vie & Tilley after bath

And here is Spencer (aka Mr Green) looking like the image of his roguish Dad.

In her new home: Nikki (aka Ms Purple) has found her favorite napping spot.
Shoes seem to be a favorite among all the pups.

In her new home: Lexxi (aka Ms Pink) enjoys playing "tugger"
with her yellow fleece. Mom, Flo taught all her pups to enjoy tugging.
She also taught them "keep away" and "catch me" if you can.
In performance sports "toy play" can be a great release from pressure and
reward for a job well done!

Tilley (aka Ms White) with Ava  "Happy Together"

Here's Luke Stargazer (aka Mr Yellow) after his bath.

Tux (aka Mr Blue) the only pup with spats
will be dancing with sheep!

Soon to follow: Onyx,  Vie,

Day 58 Changes

So much happens in a day when the slate is nearly blank. Their schedule has been upset because the deck which has been their egress has been needing scraping, priming and painting. We have waited until the pups went to their new homes. Now Vie and Orbit had to hang out while the work was done and the paint dried.

The pups are in an awkward stage. Today their ears and feet grew over night and don't match their muzzle, head or hind feet.   Overall, they are growing like weeds and being very inquisitive about exploring the house.
In their "area", they are given them frozen marrow bones to ease the teething discomfort from those little pointy, sharp--sharp teeth. When they are actively playing or sleeping,  the marrow bones go back to the freezer.

Tonight they are playing hide and seek in the house. Very cute!

We started their training tonight with little bits of chicken. Recall, lured sit and taking treats like ladies are at the top of my list.

Day 56 Gone

All but two of the puppies have started the next journey of their lives.
They are on their way to their new homes.
Flo is in the backyard playing tug and keep away with the remaining two.
It is going to feel very empty around here for quite a while.

Good Bye to the Whole Gang!
A new start.

Day 50 Getting ready to go

Last night the pups were segregated into groups of 2 and slept in crates so that they can start to be ready for their new homes. They whined a bit to go to their whelping box but then settled down.

Today each one will have a chance to walk on lead so they can be accustomed to the leash and be transported safely.

Day 47 A day in the life.....

5:30 AM  Daybreak and the puppies call to their Dam
5:32 AM Dam is told to stay and not visit the puppies to hang on a bit longer each day
5:34 AM Dam and puppies are outside, puppies are attached to Mum like hanging decorations.
5:44 AM Everyone is off to do their business outside,
they have used their pee pad during the night and there are no solid messes in their whelping pen.
5:54 AM Buckets of puppy chow are served
6:00 AM Empty buckets are picked up

PLAYTIME  -- FULL STEAM AHEAD..... Nothing in the yard is left unexplored. At 5 weeks these puppies were going up and down stairs, exploring dirt, hay,  flower beds, and herding sheepy feet. One must be very careful to do the "puppy shuffle" as they wish to head your shoes by coming around to the eyelets (herding joke, sorry!).

7:30 AM Puppies are now "dead in the water" and are put into the secured kennel area for a nap.
8:30 AM Another exercise and food break.
9:30 AM Back to nap.

3:30 PM Another exercise and food break.
4:30 PM Back to nap.

5:30 PM Another exercise and food break.
7:30 PM Back to nap.
9:30 PM Another shot on the grass and water.
10:00 PM To bed!
